57,517 students clear class 10 supplementary exam

A total of 57,517 students could save a year as they managed to clear their class 10 exams held last month. The state government decided to change its policy last year and have the supplementary exams for those failing their board exams in June instead of October.

The results, said school education minister Vinod Tawde, were better than that of those conducted in October. "Last year, the pass percentage of those students re-appearing was nine per cent, while this time it is 27 per cent," said Tawde.

The minister added that instructions had been passed on to colleges that if there are any hindrances in giving admissions to students who have just cleared class 10 exams due to availability of seats, five per cent increase in the college's quota of seats will be done.

Tawde added that the government will look at ways to ensure that next year onwards students do not miss out on a month's studies. "If exams are held in March, we will try to come out with results by April so that re-exams can be held earlier. This will help students to get admission early too," said Tawde.
