A study by a horticulturist appointed by a corporator from Colaba has stated that there are 20 dangerous trees in the area. The study was commissioned by My Dream Colaba, an NGO, that is supported by local corporator Makarand Narwekar.

The incident of a tree falling on a former TV anchor in Chembur had created panic among citizens and led them to take precautionary measures. The study was commissioned after increasing instances of tree falling in city that lead to death, injuries and damage to property. "I think there are around 20 trees and we have given the list to the BMC," said Makarand Narwekar, a corporator from Colaba.

A similar inspection idea is being toed by the neighbouring corporator from Cuffe Parade, Harshita Narwekar, who has already held a joint inspection of trees along with a BMC tree officer as well as residents. "In that inspection, we identified quite a lot of trees in the areas. The inspection was done last week and around 15 odd trees were identified whose branches need to be trimmed. However, there was no tree which had to be cut completely," said Parag Udani, a resident of Cuffe Parade.
