Three separate cases of molestation were reported in the city in the last two days, of which one incident occurred in Dombivli and the other two in Kalyan. The victims are aged between 10 and 23 years. The accused persons in all three cases have been arrested by the police.
Auto driver molests student of Kalyan school
In the first incident which took place on Thursday, a 10-year-old girl from Kalyan was molested by the driver of the auto she travels to school in every day. While returning from school, the auto driver, Mukhtiyar Shaikh (47), a resident of Kalyan Koliwada, stopped the auto some distance away from the school and started touching the girl inappropriately. When the girl warned him to stop doing it, he started kissing her forcibly on her cheeks.
The girl then started screaming for help, after which local residents who heard her came to her rescue and handed Shaikh over to the police.
Travelling by bus not so safe, finds woman
In the second incident, a 28-year-old man on Thursday molested a 23-year-old woman who was travelling home to Kalyan in a Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Transportation (KDMT) bus after college. The man, Indrajeet Yadav, who had been following the woman from her college in Dombivli, got into the same bus as her and stood behind her.
Every time the driver applied the brakes, Yadav would throw himself against her. After this happened thrice, the angry woman complained to a fellow passenger, after which Yadav was beaten up by the passengers in the bus and handed over to the police.
Youth stalks teen, asks her to marry him
In the last incident, 20-year-old Billal Munna Mangoor was arrested on Friday for stalking a 17-year-old college student in Kalyan. The girl alleged that he grabbed her hand and said she looks beautiful in a saree. He added, “I like you a lot and want to marry you.” The girl forcibly pulled her hand away and lodged a complaint against Mangoor, a Kalyan resident, following which he was apprehended by the Bazaar Peth police.
While Shaikh has been booked under section 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Protection Of Children From Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012, Yadav and Mangoor have been charged for using assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty under section 354 of the IPC. Police officers from the respective police stations are investigating the cases.
