A 19-year-old girl was allegedly attacked by her 34-year-old neighbour after she refused to reciprocate his feelings for her. The jilted lover allegedly slashed the victim's wrists and tried to flee. The incident happened on Sunday at around 8:30 am on VM Road in front of Mithibai College in Juhu. The Juhu police have arrested the accused identified as Bachu Ali.

The incident happened on Sunday at around 8:30 am on VM Road in front of Mithibai College in Juhu. The Juhu police have arrested the accused identified as Bachu Ali.
Ali was waiting on the roadside with a knife. The victim who resides in a chawl in Nehru Nagar stepped out of her house to go to her workplace. When he saw her, he walked up to her and started talking.
Following this, he slashed her wrists and tried to flee. Onlookers heard her scream and chased the man. A police patrolling van also spotted the commotion which nabbed the accused along with the locals.
The victim who suffered deep wounds on her wrists is recovering in Sion hospital. According to the police, the accused had been forcing the girl to have an affair with him for the last few years. Ali could not bear the rejection and decided to attack the girl, said the police. He had allegedly approached the girl on Saturday evening also and he threatened her when she refused his proposal.
The victim is a student and works part time in a firm in Andheri. Ali is employed as a cook in a hotel. He has been arrested under section 307 (attempt to murder0 under the Indian Penal Code. He has several cases of assault and mischief registered against him and was externed from the area, said the police.
