Travis Kalanick rides UberMOTO into Hyderabad

The bike-sharing service by Uber will go live in January 2017.

Uber chief executive officer Travis Kalanick who's in the country on a five day visit, announced the launch of UberMOTO, the app-based cab aggregator's bike-sharing product, at an event at T-Hub in Hyderabad. 

The service will go live from January 2017 and can be accessed on the Uber app on Android and iOS smartphones. 

"UberMOTO will go live in Hyderabad from January 2017, and will be one of the most affordable transportation options in the city, with fares as low as Rs 20 for the first 3 kms and Rs 5 per km thereafter," the company said in a release. 

Commenting on the launch of the new service, Kalanick, who was present at the event, said, "I am excited to be in Hyderabad for the launch of uberMOTO. It’s a quick, easy and affordable way to get around the city. And it’s great to be working with a progressive, forward thinking government like Telangana on smart mobility solutions that can help reduce congestion in urban areas.”

By recognising how we can transform urban mobility options in our cities through progressive regulations, Telangana is leading the way in bringing the change that our cities need.”
