Tata's defence, aerospace FY15 revenue estimated at Rs 2500 crore

Tata group is likely to garner an estimated revenue of over Rs 2500 crore from its Defence and Aerospace business this fiscal, Tata Sons Group Executive Council Member and Brand Custodian Mukund Rajan said.

"Let me now turn to the consolidated statistics for the Tata group?s presence in the Defence and Aerospace sector. Our estimated revenue for FY 15 is over Rs 2500 crore or over USD 400 million," Rajan said at Tata Sons Media Round Table event.

"Tata Technologies is currently working with 12 of the top 15 Aerospace Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs) and over 100 companies across the global aerospace supply chain," Rajan said.

The current order book size of the Tata group in the Defence and Aerospace sector is in excess of Rs 10,000 crore, he added.

In FY 2013-14, over Rs 320 crore was invested in defence and aerospace sector by various Tata companies, Rajan said.

Talking about Tata Advanced Systems, which is a cent per cent Tata Sons owned company in Defence, Aerospace and Security, Rajan said it has an order book of over Rs 4,500 crore signed with global OEMs and Indian customers.

By 2018, TTAL Manufacturing Solutions Limited, which is 100 per cent Tata Motors owned company, would be looking at supplying more than 120,000 parts and assemblies to the world's leading aircraft and engine programmes, including 787 and Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 and Trent XWB, he said.

Tata Power Strategic Engineering Division Chief Executive Officer Rahul Chaudhry said the company is investing Rs 500 crore in a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Vemagal, Karnataka dedicated to defence to enhance its capability and capacity to meet the growing business needs.

CEO and Managing Director of Tata Advance Systems Limited (TASL) Sukaran Singh said the company has invested over Rs 400 crore in the last five years and has set up production facilities spread over 4,50,000 sqft across India.
