The rupee strengthened by 6 paise to 63.33 against the US dollar in early trade today at Interbank Foreign Exchange after the greenback weakened overseas as Greece submitted a fresh bailout plan.

Selling of the US dollar by exporters and a higher opening in the domestic equity market also supported the rupee, forex dealers said.

The domestic currency had jumped by 21 paise to 63.39, its highest closing in more than two months against the US dollar in Thursday's trade.

Meanwhile, BSE Sensex recovered by 155.47 points or 0.56% to 27,729.13 in early trade.
