With the economy showing signs of revival, the ‘India Leadership Conclave 2009’ will bring together top representatives of India Inc to deliberate over some of the key issues related to the downturn and the road ahead.

The conclave, organised jointly by DNA, Assocham and Wockhardt Foundation, will be held in the capital on September 26.

Industry stalwarts will talk about the consumer behaviour that has undergone a serious change during the slowdown.

The financial climate of the past one year or so has not only tested the resilience of the country’s economy, but also that of the Indian leaders. The panel discussion at the conclave will take up the topic ‘The mind of the leader, what makes them tick’.

After a lull of over a year, Indian firms are hiring once again. Infosys HR head Mohandas Pai will talk on the critical issues of the job market in the session ‘Employment & Employability’.

The conclave will also acknowledge the efforts of Indian leaders and businessmen in making the economy the world’s second-fastest growing in the world.

While former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi will be awarded posthumously, ICICI’s Chanda Kochhar will receive the award of businesswoman of the year.

The conclave is also an attempt to raise funds to support the programmes of Mumbai-based Wockhardt Foundation whose 10 social programmes are trying to create awareness among society’s privileged members to extend their support to socially and economically deprived people.

Huzaifa Khorakiwala, CEO, Wockhardt Foundation, said, “We appeal to people to join as warriors — either as donors or volunteers.”
