For safe and smooth public transportation, a signaling system plays a major role. Japan's Kyosan Electric Manufacturing Corporation has a hundred year of history of developing road traffic and railway signal systems, besides power conversion systems. The company first introduced traffic signal technology based on the union switch and signal in 1920s, and started domestic manufacturing by brushing up its technology. Kyosan produced the first traffic signal system in Japan in 1956.

With a top domestic share in the signal system, Kyosan have expanded its operations in more than 10 countries overseas. Its president, Tsutomu Tokodai, says the company has achieved the reputation of having the world's most safe traffic system.

Tokodai said, "The second generation president of the company, Sabei Higuchi, worked on technology advancement. He traveled to Myanmar in 1951. He also visited and established business in India in 1957. Our subsidiary company, Taiwan Kyosan, was established in 1971 in Taichung. It is very important how we can distribute Japanese superior high technology with a reasonable price, and the price has to be suitable for the economic status of each country."

Kyosan Electric Manufacturing Corporation has also forayed into the Indian market and is planning to venture into other South Asian countries, including Bangladesh.

Tokodai further said, "We are presently working in India with a target to achieve 75 percent of domestic manufacturing in India. We deliver our products to India, but later want to deliver our skills by collaborating with a local company on the operation and maintenance of the system. Japan's Prime Minister Abe is also having diplomatic relations with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. This signals positively for our business and the industry. I appreciate for the people in India and ASEAN countries. They are very friendly to us. We would like to contribute with the technologies in traffic signals to meet their expectations from Japan."

Another Japan'-based company, Rinni Corporation, which has been manufacturing gas appliances, is expanding its market base by launching advanced products. Incorporated in 1920, Rinnai recently released a new series of kitchen built-in gas cooker. The product "My Hob" was awarded with "the Good Design Award" a Japanese comprehensive design evaluation and commendation prize. Hiroshi Kawada, a representative of the Global Marketing Team for Rinnai Corporation, said, "This is a kitchen gas hob utilising Rinnai's original combustion technology. It is designed to be suitable for different cooking methods in various countries and regions, by customising with the choices of various type of burner into 44 variations."

The product can be customised with the choices of four types of burners. The numbers of burner units, trivet size can be selected to fit the food culture and needs in each country.

Kawada further added, "This "Double Simmer Burner" features simmer control and the burner is perfectly sealed. Spillages are minimized and allow quick and easy cleaning. "This is an inner flame burner. The burner is installed inside the circle. This creates a tornado flame with intensive heat power, offering a powerful wok style flame to suit Asian cooking styles. This will be highly accepted in China and in overseas regions."

"MY HOB" series was developed aiming towards to the emerging markets such as ASEAN, India, Russia, Central and South America, and the Middle East.

Based on research, Rinnai have developed modules that can respond to the different needs and specifications. Kawada said, "We are aiming to advance to worldwide markets, especially to the quickly emerging countries such as Myanmar, India and Africa." Rinnai operates 20 overseas branches, six domestic production facilities and 86 sales offices globally. The company aims to improve the brand appearance, by developing design unification on the entire series of product for global expansion.
