Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets too extended their downward trend in the absence of buying support amid adequate stocks position, registering further decline up to Rs 175 per quintal.

Marketmen said regular arrivals from manufacturing belts amidst subdued demand from stockists and retailers mainly kept gur prices lower for the second straight week.

A lower trend in sugar markets too dampened the trading sentiments, they added.

Marketes remained closed on February 22 on account of "Mahashivaratri".

In Delhi, gur Pedi prices fell the most by falling Rs 200 to settle the week at Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal followed by gur dhayya by falling Rs 100 to end at Rs 3,300-3,400 per quintal.

However, gur chakku and shakkar traded in a tight range on scattered activity and closed flat at Rs 3,200-3,300 and Rs 3,500-3,600 per quintal respectively.

At Muzaffarnagar, gur Khurpa prices came down from Rs 2,825-2,850 to conclude at Rs 2,650-2,700, showing a fall up to Rs 175 per quintal during the week.

Gur Chakku prices also slipped by Rs 75 to finish the week at Rs 2,875-3,000, while laddoo prices enquired at previous week's closing levels of Rs 2,900-2,950 per quintal.

Gur Raskat prices also met with resistance, dropped by Rs 50 to settle the week at Rs 2,550-2,600 per quintal on fall in demand from beer makers.

Coming to Muradnagar, gur Pedi prices slid by Rs 150 to end the week at Rs 2,700-2,750, while Dhayya prices lost Rs 100 at Rs 2,800-2,850 per quintal. (MORE)
