Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on Thursday that "India is fast moving towards urbanisation for which we need large scale infrastructure, which is a challenge for all of us," while speaking about sustainable development. He was addressing delegates at the two-day 'Asian Think Tank Development Forum-2016' meet on 'Promoting Sustainable Urbanisation in Asia Pacific' in New Delhi.

The forum is conducting discussions on the latest regional and global policy developments on sustainable urbanisation while also holding dialogue between think tanks and their clients from the government, business sector and civil society.

Jaitley added, "A large part of our resources have to be spent on urbanisation and the concept of Smart Cities is a step in that direction." He also said that the Asian region has much more growth potential in comparison to other parts of the world.

The forum is being attended by the think tank members of the Asian Development Bank (ADB)-Asian Think Tanks Network who come from Asia and the Pacific, numbering about 30. It is being hosted by ADB, India’s National Institute of Public Finance and Policy as well as the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations.
