GoAir becomes first domestic carrier to operate night flight to Port Blair

As part of its charter operations, GoAir will operate a total of 14 night flights on the sector till March.

The Wadia group-promoted GoAir has become the first domestic airline to operate night flights to Port Blair's Veer Savarkar International Airport with the roll out of a commercial charter flight from Bengaluru.

GoAir's maiden commercial charter flight G8 1291 took off from Bengaluru at around 2315 hours on January 20 and landed at Port Blair airport at 0150 hours the next day, the airline said in a release.

As part of its charter operations, GoAir will operate a total of 14 night flights on the sector till March, it said.

Of these, three night flights will be operated this month, five in February and six in March, it said, adding that all flights will arrive at Port Blair from Bengaluru at 0150 hours (past midnight) and depart for Bengaluru from Port at 2.20 am.

"We are pleased to be the first airline to commence night operations to Port Blair apart from being the first airline to offer non-stop daily flights connecting Bengaluru-Port Blair in the wake of growing demand on these sectors. We hope holiday travellers would find the new flights attractive and convenient," GoAir Chief Executive Officer Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said.

According to the airline, effective March 27 and as per its new summer schedule, GoAir will also start operating its first ever daily direct flights to Port Blair from Bengaluru.

Additionally, GoAir will also connect Port Blair to key domestic markets through various morning/night flights and viable transfer options from different locations, the airline said.
