International aviation companies are offering attractive fares for people travelling in the business class in a bid to overcome the lean season.

Airlines such as Qatar Airways, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Swiss Air are offering various schemes to attract travellers during the lean period. According to industry experts, the airlines generally come up with such offers during this period in order to fill-up capacities before and after the festive season.

British Airways, for example is offering 20% discount on 'Club World' – its business class, to places like London and some cities in North America at Rs 1,80,206. The offer is available for flyers booking tickets by November 22 for an outbound travel period on/before December 31, 2014.

Middle eastern carrier – Qatar Airways is offering its customers in India 2-for-1 ticket under its 'Double the Luxury scheme'. Travellers booking one business class ticket will receive a second business class ticket for free and is available for select destinations across its network. The promotional offer is valid for booking till November 22, for travel until March 31, 2015.

A similar scheme is being run by European carrier – Swiss Air, wherein customers can avail the second ticket for free for a business class ticket purchase. Virgin Atlantic too is offering 10% discount on the business class travel.

International carriers have continued to offer various schemes on business class this year in order to boost the demand.

Other European carriers are expected to follow the trend, said a travel agent.

"It might be a good time to book tickets as lot of international airlines are offering attractive fares to promote their business class and also to cover the lean season," said Sharat Dhall, president, Yatra.com – an online travel agency.

"Business travel reduces a bit before and after the festive season. This gives a good opportunity to the travellers as well as carriers to fill their capacities and increase the demand, said Dhall.
