15 things PM Modi said at the 'Digital India' launch

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched the “Digital India Week' in New Delhi keeping in mind the view to empower the people of the country through Digital India programme. He even mentioned that technology should play a pivotal role in India's progress.

The main vision of the Digital India programme is inclusive growth in areas of electronic services, products, manufacturing and job opportunities, etc.

“The vision is to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy”, said the website.

These are the 15 points that the honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during the launch:

1. Emphasised on giving digital strength to our demographic dividend, focussing on mobile governance and creating a vibrant start-up ecosystem.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that E-governance is going to change to M-governance. He added that M doesn't stand for Modi, it stands for Mobile.

3. He congratulated R Prasad and his team and said Digital India has been drawn with very fine details.

4. At the launch of the Digital India, PM Modi said that he dreams of a Digital India where knowledge is strength and empowers people.

5. “I dream of a Digital India where the citizen-government interface is incorruptible”, siad PM Modi.

6. He also said that he dreams of a Digital India where high speed digital highways unite the nation.

7. “I dream of a Digital India where government is open and government is transparent”, said Narendra Modi.

8. He mentioned that Digital India will fulfil dreams of crores of Indians.

9. PM Modi dreams of a Digital India where 1.2 billion connected Indians will drive innovation.

10. He said that India should take a lead in assuring cyber security at the Digital India launch.

11. “India is a country with so many IT companies and professionals and for a country like this, electronic goods should not be imported”, said PM Modi.

12. He said that design in India should be the anchor for Digital India.

13. Referring to the banks, Narendra Modi said that banks are going to be paper-less and premise-less soon.

14. PM Modi ensured jobs to 18 lakh people and said Digital India will enable investment of Rs 4.5 lakh crore.

15. Referring to kids, Narendra Modi said even kids today understand the power of digital and are attracted to mobile phones.
