Wouldn’t it be great if you could do your bit from the cosy confines of your home towards the cause of supporting traditional craftsmen and weavers from the country. A fashion retail-based website has created a website base that will enable members to bid for an array of summer fashion wear created by some of the most well known young designers like Nachiket Barve, Nikasha Tawadey, Rahul Reddy, Rahul Mishra, Rimzim Dadu and others.

Pearl Uppal, who heads the fashion retail website, points out that working towards this cause runs in sync with the basic motto of the website that is to set up a consolidated fashion industry retail in India. She says, “We are looking to develop a fashion infrastructure in the country. This is the first of our series of attempts to do so, and we begin by bringing the works of fifteen young designers on this platform, to promote arts and craft.”

The Delhi-based Uppal who deals with garments and designer products on an everyday basis feels that despite the excellent work by so many craftsmen and weavers around the country, there is little recognition because of the lack of infrastructure. She explains, “The opportunities are very big but the sector is very disorganised. If we need to build on the retail, the field must be supported by the corporate sector.”

The auction is on till April 30th.
