Yellow is the new colour of the fashion world

If one were to map trends according to what our celebrities wore, outfits in yellow will emerge as a clear winner. Actress Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and even Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan were among those who stepped out in the summery shade a couple of days back. And designers are only too happy to give the thumbs up to this hue.

Says designer Amalraj Sengupta, “Summer time and yellow go hand-in-hand. Lemon, banana and honey dew shades just brighten up one’s mood and, given how hot it is getting, it’s no surprise that our celebs are turning to this shade for comfort.”

Designers, however, suggest breaking the solid hue with a complementing shade to avoid looking like an over-enthusiastic sunflower. “A plain yellow outfit looks cool too, but you really need a strong personality to carry it off, otherwise, you risk looking like a wannabe. Bandage dresses in yellow are really in. Kurtas in pale or bright yellows can be teamed with white leggings with a slim belt at the lower waist for that casual effect. Yellow tops also look great when teamed with cotton denims in probably beige, white or grey,” says designer Kaanch Advani, whose summer line is brimming with all things yellow.

Clothes apart, soft doses of yellow can also be administered in terms of accessories and nail paints! As designer Shivaji Dutta puts it, “Quirky hair accessories look great on youngsters. I’ve also seen a lot of them experiment with funky nail shades and yellow seems to top their list this season. If one is not such a great fan of the hue, they can even team a predominantly white, grey or beige ensemble with yellow pumps for effect. A bright yellow wrist-watch or bracelet, a perky yellow belt or just pumps — the list is endless.”
