Kannada Actor Parul Yadav tells you how to maintain your cool quotient this summer…
1. Fashion for me is something that reflects inner beauty. It is more about the person rather than the clothing.
2. I swear by branded clothes and accessories as they are long lasting. Forever New, Mango, Vero Moda, Zara and Aldo are my preferred brands. Vero Moda offers a wide variety of day wear while Mango is the best for dresses. Bebe has a funky collection of party wear. When it comes to shoes, Aldo dominates my collection.
3. I have over 88 dresses and gowns. I am not very much into denims. I feel dresses suit my body type and bubbly personality.
4. Pinks, yellows and greens are my colours. I sport light colours in the day and go for darker shades while stepping out in the evenings. Prints are a big no no for me.
5. For formal dos I wear gowns or saris. I have a special liking for Ashley Rebello’s gowns and half saris. Rocky S and Manish Malhotra are my other favourites. I like Manish’s choice of fabric and colour. When I go out partying, I am often found in micro minis. I go for loud colours like shocking pink. At home you will find me lazing around in loose T-shirts, pyjamas or denim shorts. Harem pants are also my comfort clothing.
6. The trend that’s caught my eye oflate is that of colour blocking. It brings loud and proud colours together in a very aesthetic way. Orange and blue are my favourite mix and match shades.
7. Dubai is my shopping mecca. In India, Bangalore and Mumbai are brand havens. But if you are looking to beat the heat with cool and cotton summer wear, shops around Goan beaches are where you should be looking. The backless halter tops and dresses available there are perfect for the weather. The colour palette is also varied. Avoid chiffons and black coloured garments in summer. Stay away from lycra, too.
8. I have a large collection of watches. Sling bags are my other fetish. I carry them while I go out partying as they are good enough for essentials like credit cards, mobile phone and basic make up.
9. Keep your make up simple during summers. I just dab on some L’Oreal sunscreen and powder my face before I set out. Even if I have to attend an event I restrict myself to basic make up. I go light on the eye shadow and stick to nude colours when it comes to lipsticks. I use Mac foundation as they are water based.
10. I tie my hair up in a high pony to avoid it from getting oily and sweaty. The best way to maintain your hair is by consuming a lot of proteins. They are more effective than hair products.
