Tell us a little about your new Waterfalls collection?
The Waterfalls collection focuses on silhouettes and is largely inspired from nature. I have used drapes to enhance the effect of the flow of water. The shades of green are inspired from the grass, the greys are from ashes and the blues and purples are from the waterfalls itself. I have used nets extensively, which adds to the shades and flow. The shaded nets paired with the draping create an authentic waterfall effect.

How do you design according to season?
Since we don’t really have a winter in India, I focus on the festive season. The festive season sees more elegant cuts, darker and richer shades and the use of satins and silk. For the spring-summer collection, I use more of pastel, lighter prints and shades and combine them with pure georgettes and nets, while for the monsoons; I bring out my rain collections.

What gives the Waterfall collection its uber-feminism?
I focus on the necklines and hemlines. While my gowns are ankle length, the shorter dresses have a higher hemline. As for the neck, they are normally halters, tie-up halters or one-shoulder necks. For the back, sheer necks are used for that added element of elegance.

 Why a theme from nature?
Today, no one really pays attention to nature. Its beauty and varied colours inspire me greatly. I have always wanted to take nature as a theme and use elements that inspire me the most- water, greenery, the sky and ash. I then worked around the elements taking the water as waterfalls and the greenery as shrubs to make this collection come to life.

Tell us a bit about your ‘Modern Royalty’ collection for Tanishq.
The Modern Royalty collection for Tanishq’s jewellery is made entirely of pure silk. I have used velvets and piping as well to make the collection blend with the jewellery. The collection takes its inspiration from the Nawab era.

Your tryst with film stars and television?
I have styled Chitrangda Singh, who was a judge for the Kingfisher Calendar Show. I have also worked with Shazahn Padamsee, Aanchal Kumar, Deepti Gujral and Soniya Mehra.
