Mumbai's dining early

City restaurants are introducing early dinner menus, keeping in mind health benefits.

With everyone heading to the gym, dieting, doing yoga and even going under the knife to lose that extra flab, restaurants in Mumbai are increasingly introducing a better and a more delicious solution to lose those extra kilos. They have launched an early dinner menu to help you out.

The benefits of eating an early dinner are prevalent among the health conscious and fitness enthusiasts around the world. Early dinner menus have always cropped up when it came to losing weight, with doctors and dieticians recommending it for leading a healthy lifestyle.

Chef Loong, Chef de Cuisine of Hakkasan, says, “Eating healthy food has become a prerequisite for many and we believe in recreating and redesigning the menu based on market trends, consumer preferences and Indian substantiality. The Taste of Hakkasan is a set menu that promises to offer a fantastic culinary experience to please the palate of early eaters in an ambiance that is enhanced to offer a fine dining experience.” The Hakkasan offers a variety of dim sums namely Crystal Dumpling, Shimeji Dumpling, Lotus Roll; healthy soups and mains like San Pei Chicken Clay Pot, Tofu and Aubergine, and Vegetarian Stir Fry French Beans.

Sherman Almeida, F&B Manager at Courtyard by Marriott, Mumbai International Airport, says, “The human body needs three hours for the food to digest and business travellers prefer early supper at 7 in the evening, as meetings are scheduled early for them. Keeping all this in mind, supper in our restaurants is usually served from 7-7.30 pm. Asians eat at 7 as they need nine hours of sleep, to be up by 7 am for breakfast as they have meetings planned ahead in the day.”

Dinner starts at 7 pm at both the restaurants Red Zen and MoMo Cafe at Courtyard by Marriott. The menu comprises of healthy soups and broths such as Sea food broths, Lobster bisque (avoiding cream based soups), salads like Som Tam and Main dishes like grilled chicken breast and Sea Bass in Lemon and Chive Dressing.
