It’s time for razzle-dazzle as the crystal clinking crowd of Mumbai assembles to bask in high fashion on the runway at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Summer/ Resort 2010.

The five-day fashion extravaganza, that begins today, will see designers dish out a riot of colours on the ramp.

Designer Rocky S says, “I have always been doing a lot of traditional wear and in this fashion week I will make a strong statement with colours in traditional summer wear. My line is almost like a wedding and it’s not just for the bride but for the entire family. I don’t think white and other soft colours are the only one for summer. I have lots of embellishments too in my line but it’s not over the top.”

This year 64 designers are participating in the fashion week with 153 registered buyer companies.  Designer Malini Ramani says, “My collection is inspired from martinis from across the world and I’m known for resort wear so I will be mixing martinis with resort. It’s a fun, young, colourful line.”

Head-honcho Anil Chopra also reveals how this year is going to be special. “Staying ahead of the curve, LFW has also introduced the internationally-acclaimed concept of resort wear for designers in India. It will serve as a powerful platform to increase the exposure of Indian designers to the international markets. Christopher Kane (London-based fashion designer) will show his Summer/Resort 2010 along with iconic hairdresser Anthony Mascolo.”
