India’s richest businessman Mukesh Ambani proudly cheered from the front row when wife Nita delivered a lecture at the London School of Economics (LSE) on Friday.
“She flew in in her aircraft with her husband a day before to deliver the lecture. She was beaming with confidence,” says a close aide of hers. Nita delivered a PhD Fellowship Lecture on the topic, Towards an Indian Renaissance: Building Institutions of Excellence, and the session was chaired by Lord Meghnad Desai.
When DNA got in touch with her through her aide after the lecture, Nita communicated, “It was back in the 1970s when me and Mukesh were in the university. At that point of time, India was regarded as a third world country. Today, it is the third largest economy. India is a force in itself.”
Nita believes the best of India is yet to come, and reiterated the observation at the lecture in LSE. “There was a time when there was the Green Revolution movement. Now, India is a movement,” she adds.
The main themes of her lecture were education, healthcare, and harnessing India’s many opportunities.
