The art of modern pranic healing aims to help people deal with physical, emotional and mental maladies. From physical issues like coughs, heart disease and even cancer to mental and emotional disturbances — post-trauma care, maladjustment syndromes and phobias, for example — pranic healers claim to deal with all of them with varying degrees of success.
Says Shalin Bhagat, a full time pranic healer who’s dealt with clients for the last 13 years, “Besides the physical body, each of us has an energy body or energy field that extends up to five inches outward of our physical body. The physical body and energy body inter-penetrate each other and when there are changes or disturbances in either one of these, the other is also affected.”
What pranic healers aim to do is to restore the energy field in an ailing individual to its position of equilibrium by cleansing the impure energy from the body’s chakras which in turn restores the physical and mental states of the person into wellness.
Says Bhagat, “The healing is done without touch or any physical contact with the client through a process called ‘air prana’ or ‘air healing’. At later stages, healing with crystals may also be used.”
Says Dr Neeta Yuvraj, a holistic healer who once practiced the art before branching into integrated healing: “Pranic healing is useful also because it makes people energy sensitive — aware of their own and others’ energy fields. At a later stage pranic healers advocate the art of arhatic yoga which is an admirable practise.”
Incidentally arhatic yoga was developed and taught by the founder of modern pranic healing Grand Master Choa Kok Sui, and combines in a single discipline all the other paths of yoga.
The benefits of pranic healing over traditional medicine and surgery? That it is non-invasive and effective particularly since pranic healing is often done as a supplement to traditional allopathic and surgical procedures. “We do not advocate that patients leave their medical treatment at any stage unless they so wish. We advise that that they employ the benefits of pranic healing in complement with the medical procedures they are undertaking,” ends Bhagat.
