They’re available in all types and sizes. Thigh-up boots, quite a sensation abroad currently, ankle-length also called booties, riding boots, calf-high, wedges and of course gumboots (yeah, the ugly bright coloured ones you wore to school) are haute this season. Designer/stylist Aki Narula says, “If you are adventurous, then try fishermen boots; they run right up to the thigh and are very buzzing. Another option could be no-heel boots that you can lace up. A further variation could be boots with a lot of straps. You can wear them with acid colours such as yellow, pink and green.”

Model Dipannita Sharma says, “We don’t have a winter in Mumbai but we all need an excuse to feel sexy. My suggestion would be never wear boots without leggings or stockings. I think it is important to connect the outfit to the boots, otherwise they look weird. Also wear boots in basic shades such as black and brown; don’t get very neon.” Stylist Akanksha Nanda says, “Boots give a very rocker chic look, which is in vogue now. People are revisiting the 80’s grunge style which is of course very trendy and a strong style statement. Booties are hot this season. You can wear them with tapered pants, leggings, dresses and jeans.”

One can let the imagination soar, but never wear boots with a salwar. Guess we all understand why? Designer Gavin Miguel adds, “I think boots with fitted skirts are a total no-no. Boots are more within the current boho-chic look, so try boots with printed dresses, tapered pants and stockings. Also ankle-length boots with three-fourth pants are another stunner. Internationally, Prada and Alexander McQueen have amazing boots.”
Aki further adds, “For boots, another colour that is doing the rounds of the party circuit is tan that looks like maroon and deep purple.” Gavin says, “Metallic fabric boots are also very chic.”
