Anjaan is off for good. He says that he won’t miss the city as much as he would its people and his fans, which we are sure he has quite a few.

Just a few days ago, quite a few people from across the city, including Team DNA, received a mail from Anjaan, one of Bangalore’s most popular radio jockeys. The letter read: “They say, time is a dressmaker specialising in alterations. My life is about to alter drastically over the next few days! In May, I completed six years in my current job at Radio One and have decided to move on. This time the move is not only out of Radio One but also out of Bangalore and India itself. We are relocating to the UAE and I will be joining the Gulf News Broadcast network and will be a presenter on their new Bollywood station in Dubai!”

It must have been hard, for a guy who’s an intrinsic part of Bangalore’s music and radio scene to say goodbye. But he seems to be quite charged about  his new asssigment.

‘Yes, I am shifting to Dubai permanently (Anjaan left Bangalore on June 9)… I was doing really well and so is the company. I have been with them since 2006. But I think I had reached a plateau in my career. There was this question, ‘What next?’ looming large on my mind. I had started to feel like I was packed in a box, wanting to come out. And when you start getting these feelings, it becomes difficult to push yourself. I started to send feelers out in the market and by May I had quite a few offers already. Dubai stood to be the most lucrative one, and not just money wise. Plus, the offer came on my birthday!” he says.

And now, Anjaan is off for good; he goes on to add that he won’t miss the city as much as he would its people and his fans, which we are sure he has quite a few. “I have a lot of feeling attached to the places I have been hanging out at with my friends for all these years. I know there are people who used to follow my show regularly and in this world of digital media, they will find a way to connect with me. Plus, there’s always Facebook!” And hopefully in the future, we will find a way to broadcast on the internet.”

Life sure does go on and Anjaan says, “It’s Dubai now, but who knows, it might be NY, London or Melbourne next. But I am feeling very good; happy and excited because I have new people, new ears and targets to look forward to. I’ll be hosting a Bollywood music show (one of my favourite genres). I remember, I was the first employee of Radio One and was there during the launch and it will be my fondest memory. And now, I will be here in Dubai during the launch of this new radio station, but the only difference will be I’ll be saying — ‘Good Morning, UAE.’

We assume that our boy must be settling in already, given that Dubai is no new city to him. Good luck, pal!
