In a series of paintings, artist Vibha Desai pays tribute to womanhood as she brings out the beauty and divinity of the feminine form in her works in a week- long exhibition, starting November 18.

Born in Baroda, Vibha is also a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, which, perhaps, has helped her develop an eye for figural details. Also, she is the first Indian artist to have a solo show in Brussels, Belgium.

"It is difficult to state the post modern," explains Vibha. "But it has helped me to discover my real nature and to express myself without the impediment of conventions or inhibitions," she adds.

Every stroke and every colour is a mark of perfection in her paintings. "Both canvas and paper creates equal interest in my creations," says Vibha. However, in her next art work, Vibha promises to explore the numerous charcoal drawings with bold outlines so as "to make the figure stand out from the background in sharper, well-studied figures and enormous technical flourish."

She believes that the next most explicit transformation in her style would be the shift of her concentration to the essential features of every element.

Vibha asserts that it is her extensive travel as a creative worker, experiences, choices, strength, feelings and imagination that mark her journey in both performing and plastic arts. "It has given me a new sense of freedom and enhanced my creativity," ends Vibha.
