Belmond Hotel Caruso, Italy
Set at the highest point above the town of Ravello, the infinity pool at Belmond Hotel Caruso seems suspended in the clouds and offers breathtaking views of the Amalfi coastline below. Designed by the architect Gennaro Passerotti, the 69 x 39 ft, elliptical pool is situated by the ruins of the original Palace D’Afflitto.

Open every day from 9 30 am to 7 30 pm, only to resident guests, celebrities like Mark Zuckerberg, Pierce Brosnan, Naomi Campbell and Leonardo di Caprio have tested its waters. Unwind on umbrella-shaded deeply cushioned sun-beds under the orange and lemon trees that surround the pool. While you relax in the heated water, which retains a temperature of 28°C, the concierge can bring you an iPod pre-loaded with your choice of music, a fresh fruit appetiser or an Evian vaporiser.

Jade Mountain, St. Lucia

There are no public pools here, but you can plunge into a private infinity pool at your exclusive sanctuary. 24 infinity pools ranging from 450-900 sq ft are suspended ‘in the air’ at different levels of Jade Mountain. Equipped with fibre optics to illuminate the pools at night, each one has a different colour scheme and every tile is uniquely handcrafted. You can allow the system to cycle through a range of colours or set it to a particular shade. Soak in the tranquillity as you gaze at the Pitons and the Caribbean Sea.

 Conrad Maldives, Rangali Island

The resort boasts two infinity pools—one on the main Rangalifinolhu island, which has a family-friendly pool, and the second on the adults’ Rangali island at The Quiet Zone. You can also check into the Premier Water and Sunset Water villas that have private infinity pools. The pool at the Sunset Water Villa (the most luxurious accommodation at the resort) extends over the Indian Ocean. Begin the day with a swim and views of sunrise or unwind watching the exquisite Maldivian sunset.

Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

Imagine watching the sun set over Marina Bay and the Singapore skyline as you float around in an infinity-edged pool on the 57th floor of Sands SkyPark. The 150-metre pool, believed to be the largest outdoor pool at this height, spans all three hotel towers and has been visited by the likes of David Beckham, Hugh Jackman, Katy Perry and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Jumby Bay, Antigua

Set at the far end of Jumby Bay Beach, this lagoon-shaped infinity pool skirts the Pool Grille, the resort’s casual-dining restaurant. The pool at Jumby Bay, a Rosewood Resort, offers exquisite views of the Caribbean Sea. The pool is only open to hotel guests, as only they (other than staff members) are allowed on the island, in order to preserve the ultra-private lifestyle of Jumby Bay. Designated a ‘quiet pool’, you can unwind, relax and sunbathe without any interruptions.
