‘Fresh’ is the Keyword-Ojas Rajani
Bold and experimental, brides are getting more glamorous with big, sexy, glam eyes. While the cat-eye look is hot, it’s not about using black, but just shading. Brides are loving shades of rust and copper brown for the smokey look. These colours go well with jewel tones, whether they are adorned in couture clothes or gold and diamond jewellery.

Burgandy smokey and ink blue smokey eyeshadows are also in demand. Kajal will never go out of fashion for Indians and gel eyeliners work amazingly for brides as they don’t smudge or bleed. I also like cream-based eyeshadows as they blend very easily.

The focus is definitely on the eyes, not so much on the lips. Red is out for lips, because it is a bit tricky; it doesn’t suit everyone. Kiss-proof tints or lip stains with softer, youthful hues like peaches and corals are preferred. There are highlighters or glow getters for cheeks and to keep the complete look intact, a water and humidity-proof make-up fixer is just what you need. Brides want flawless looking skin, but without heavy make-up. ‘Fresh’ is the keyword.

Raise that Brow-Luca Mannucci
There is no doubt that popular Bollywood actresses set the trends for bridal make-up looks, but the most important features are the lips and eyes. Most brides are going for the 50s’-style wing. In fact, the latest trends also include full eyebrows, which frame and showcase the eyes as well as shape the eyebrows to suit the structure of the face.

Eyeliners are almost taking over from coloured eyeshadows, although some brides still like delicate-coloured, pearly shadows that create radiance.

Yet, they prefer matte and opaque eyeshadow textures, which follow the natural shape of the eyelid. Another hot trend is conturing—to define cheekbones using a powder blush; the best shades are hues of pink, mauve and burgundy. As for the pout, the trend is undoubtedly matte lipsticks.

Eyes that Talk-Vipul Bhagat
New-generation brides prefer very light make-up. They want their eyes to do the talking—with lots of kajal and false eyelashes.

The cat-eye look doesn’t suit everyone, but the smokey or half-smokey look does, especially with black or green. Pink is the season’s colour for lips, but earthy colours are doing well too, as they look great on Indian girls. As for the cheeks, lots of shine! I think these trends have something to do with the fact that Indian brides are becoming experimental with make-up and hair-dos. They want a different look for every occasion. The new airbrush technology has caught on too, but I don’t like it. It’s time consuming and isn’t waterproof; the make-up melts in the sun, so I only use it for body painting.
