Kishore was ‘the performer’. He used so many expressions in his singing including mimicry. Nobody can have a voice like his. Michael Jackson and Kishore da share the same pedestal. They are Gods of music. I often find myself humming Phir Wahi Raat Hai or In Raaton Ki Bor Nahin or Khushi Do Ghadi Ki Mile Na.

He was one person who gave every song his own voice and character. It was the spirit of Kishore. You could relate to the madness of him as an artiste. He was quirky and there were no cliches about him. I would love to re-sing his Hume Tumse Pyar Kitna as a lounge version.

It’s his attitude towards singing that is amazing. He didn’t follow rules. He was open. His life and his singing reflected his openness to life. I would probably love to sing Chingari Koi Bhadke.

His straight from the heart singing is what I love most. He inspires me and I learnt from him that singing is more than music and lyrics. I would love re-sing Musafir Hoon Yaaron.

It’s his whole persona that has influenced our generation. He added yodelling and other elements that made him unique. You cannot escape his magic. I would love to sing Na Tum Hume Jano.
