There’s a pleasant nip in the air and it’s time to throw on souvenir bombers, statement trench coats and cocktail coats — which have been the major fall-winter essentials seen everywhere — from runways to the racks. Designers from Gucci to ZARA have played with this preppy layering essential in their own way and investing in a statement jacket now seems like a plausible idea. College style arbiters, too, are nodding in favour of statement varsity jackets and denim separates peppered with floral embroideries. After Hrs caught up with college fashion enthusiasts who shared their take on the art of layering.

Yashvi Panjabi from National College says, “Monochrome layering is what my winter in Mumbai is all about! Whether a jacket is thrown on my shoulders or tied around my waist, it’s always my go-to pick for college.”

Jennyta Santos, another student from National College, exclaims, “Chic layering is a smart way to stay warm as temperatures dip — that’s something you can’t do in the unforgiving, Mumbai summer.”

Akanksha Brid from Podar College swears by her trusty floral bombers. “Flowers spell casual elegance and that’s the way I like it,” she states.
After all, what makes campus style exciting is the fact one can pick any style that complements one’s personality.
