Specs appeal?!

Spectacles may be an unavoidable accessory for many, but blaming these handy pair of lenses for making you feel less attractive ain’t quite right! But we don’t really blame you – the myth has been doing the rounds for longer than we can remember, only being further reinforced by the myriad surveys every now and then.

In fact, an Indian matrimony site had recently concluded from its survey that over 70 per cent Indian women think spectacles make for an obstacle in marriage as they believe that men find them unattractive if they wear glasses. MYTH!
You aren’t going to look like Ugly Betty just by wearing glasses, unless you manage to pick a one-of-its-kind hideous frame.

Of course, choosing the right frame to suit the shape of your face can make you stand out and look extraordinary. Specs have made their way to the runway and even the silver screen. Almost every big model/actor has a picture with specs in their portfolio — most of them even flaunt it as a regular style prop.
And with the wide options — in the shape/colours/designs — specs only seem all the more irresistable.

“The nerdy, geeky look is so refreshing and unusually seductive,” says Nina Dan, an advertising preofessional who sports a pair of electric blue, boxy frames. But if you’re still not convinced, check this out — a similar online survey also claims that people with specs were considered to be more employable, trustworthy, insightful and intelligent.

According to Marie Wilkinson, design director at Cutler and Gross, who make glasses for Scarlett Johansson and Victoria Beckham, specs have the ability to “make a woman look incredibly powerful and sexy”. “It’s all about getting the right pair of frames for your face shape and that suit your personality,” she was quoted as saying.
