If you are a seafood lover, chances are the annual Versova and Worli seafood festivals are already marked on your social calendar. And now, thanks to Authenticook, chef Subhash Shirke, corporate chef at Bombay Vintage and home chef Rajini Kathin and her family (who are residents of the Versova’s Koliwada) you can feast on Mumbai’s original Koli cuisine at Bombay Vintage.

What’s on the menu?

A chef’s expertise and a home chef’s knowledge of the cuisine has resulted in a mouth-watering spread. You start the meal with Karandi Bhaji (small prawn fritters) served with an in-house dip made with raw mangoes and tomatoes. Then reach out for the Mori (fried baby shark), a rare delicacy. The mains are served thali-style. A bowl of rice and bhakri accompanies Pankanchi, a pomfret-based curry, flavoured with kokum. The Tisrya (clams) Masala made Koli-style is a great addition  to this regional feast. The Crab Rassa made using freshly grated coconut and Koli masala is delicious. Work your way to the crab claws that absorb the flavour of the gravy. Wash it all down with Sol Kadi, and devour a mouthful of Bharleli Keli — a mix of coconut and jaggery stuffed in bananas.
