The fact that fashion repeats itself is a given. But while some retro trends tend to be cringe worthy, there are others which women cannot wait to be revived.
According to a poll conducted by myvouchercodes.co.uk, most women are longing for flare trousers (51 per cent), hair scrunchies (49 per cent), bodysuits (47 per cent) and overalls (42 per cent) to make a revival in their wardrobes.

Over half of the respondents confessed that they’re more likely to try trends if they noticed celebrities wearing them. While the flare look has been a favourite of fashionista Victoria Beckham, scrunchies are favoured by singers Katy Perry, Demi Lovato and bodysuits by Rihanna and Beyoncé. But do these garments have fans here too?

Not for all

Designer Pria Kataaria Puri says she’s all for the comeback of the bodysuit trend. “But you have to be in really good shape, you have to be very fit. This trend is not for everybody because the average woman is of medium to large size. Flare pants too have a limited audience since they tend to make you look bigger and bulgier which is great only for small-sized women,” she says. The designer, personally, loves the retro kaftan silhouette which has continued to be popular for the past seven to eight years. “It has so many options for all age groups. The second trend that I personally like is clogs because it makes one look taller and obviously slimmer.”

Fresh and practical

The 90’s minimalistic fashion look is in says designer Nishka Lulla. “Palazzos and bodysuits, wide-legged pants with crop tops — I’m all in favour of these easy comfortable silhouettes. Retro trends like the big checks, stripes and graphic/cartoon prints are also making a revival. Given a fresh spin they can be very practical and young,” says Nishka.

Dots and prints
Designer Archana Kochhar says she wholeheartedly supports the comeback of the flare. “The silhouette can look really good, in fact the coming season will see the revival of bell bottoms and shararas. As well. I love retro beauty looks like the voluminous hair and the play on the eyes. Polka dots and geometric prints are another retro trend that were huge and would look good even today,” says Archana.
