It was a New Year’s party to bring in ‘07. French-Caribbean Dmitri Lezinska, brand ambassador for a global alcohol major, was in town to spin some mixology magic on a group of select invitees…only to get a reverse spell cast on him.

“As an ice-breaker, he invited guests to learn how to toss a few cocktails. He called all Taureans (his own sun sign) to step forward,” recounts jewellery designer Reshma Bombaywala. As it happened, she was the only Taurean amongst the guests that night. “And we hit it off instantly!” she laughs.

Dmitri went back to London soon after but they kept in touch. Earlier this year, he popped the question and Reshma agreed. “Dimi’s a wonderful guy, so full of life; his way of making people comfortable is unbelievable. I think I’ve become a much calmer person after meeting him.”

Incidentally, this is Reshma’s second marriage — the first ended a few years ago. “It (the divorce) wasn’t pleasant. We didn’t get along and decided to part ways. But I never gave up on finding Mr Right — I’m a hopeless romantic and I believe in love,” she states.

The celebrations begin with a court marriage in Mumbai on January 25, after which the couple will fly to Goa.

“We have a Caribbean-themed beach party planned on the 27th and also a traditional Indian sangeet the next day. For our agnostic ceremony, I’m wearing a white Shahab Durazi gown. It’s been my childhood dream to wear a tiara, veil and white dress. I find it so romantic,” she says.  What’s next? “We’ll go diving,” she winks. “I’m just waiting to teach him that!”
