Nothing gets a party going like great music and 2014 has its fair share of tracks worthy of making it to any year-end playlist. If you're looking for a quiet dinner party, load up the oldies station and relax. But if you prefer music that starts with a growl and builds to a crescendo or if you're the kind that believes good music should make people involuntarily leap on their feet, read on. Your guests will be dancing to your tunes like you are some modern day Pied Piper.

A great way to start a playlist is with a roar, and Canadian blues musician Steve Groves does just that with Hydro Blues. The vocal heavy track about a down-on-his-luck musician is certain to get feet tapping. Next, roll right on into John Legend's All of me and follow up with Bastille's Pompeii or Ed Sheeran's Sing. Once the party is in full swing, ease into popular tunes like Bailando (Enrique Iglesias) or Anaconda (Nicki Minaj) to keep people on the dance floor. Follow this up with Meghan Trainors anthem for plus sized women and any stragglers will soon make their way to the dance floor because anybody with a pulse, especially those who are happiest when it's racing, know it's All about the Bass.

As things start winding down, it's good to end on a high note and the lyrical stylings of Pharrel fit the bill. If this year had a theme song it would have to be Pharell's Happy. Though actually released in 2013, the track this March rose to the top of Billboards Hot 100 list and stayed there longer than any other all this year. The video too was a cultural sensation and people all over the world made their own tribute videos set to the same catchy tune.

They say music soothes the savage beast but at year-end parties debauchery has its benefits. Plan your night right and you'll have the perfect mix of fun, hard partying and music to ring in the New Year.
