Bob cut
The bob made a comeback this year with a number of Hollywood personalities experimenting with the style in varying lengths and textures.  At the Emmy Awards, actress Claire Danes pulled off a faux bob, while Giuliana Rancic went for a sleek angled one. Meanwhile, January Jones experimented with a loose wavy do.

Big bangs
Bangs were a big trend this year. The style usually associated with young girls was flaunted by all including First Lady Michelle Obama who at 49 proved you’re never too old to wear them. She gave them an elegant touch as she showed off her bangs during her husband’s second presidential inauguration. Kelly Osbourne and Emma Watson were among  many others  who showed different variations of bangs.

Braided style
The plaited look has come a long way from being the ideal do for school girls. Braids were seen on the runways of Kenneth Cole and Nicole Miller, as well as on the red carpet with Selena Gomez, Kristen Stewart and Lucy Liu sporting them.

Bright colours
This year no one was playing it safe. Instead of the usual blacks, browns, reds or blondes, celebs were experimenting with rainbow hues. From Ke$ha, who sported a multi-coloured mane, to Kelly Osbourne with lilac locks and Sienna Miller with a rose gold look — there was no restriction when it came to hues.

Pixie cut
Short definitely is hot! A whole lot of actresses including Jennifer Lawrence, Pamela Anderson, Jennifer Hudson and Glee’s Kristin Chenoweth went for the big chop as they traded in their long do for a shorter one. The cut is a great way to refresh your style and make a drastic change.
