Bringing together 200 eclectic bands on six stages and touring across four cities in India, the Bacardi NH7 Weekender, in its fourth season, now offers much to music lovers. The event that will take place from October 18-20 in Pune before travelling to Bengaluru, New Delhi and Kolkata will see a number of local and international acts take stage including Chase & Status DJ Set, Skindred, Pentagram, Sky Rabbit, The Raghu Dixit Project, Papon and the East India Company among others. Here’s what to look out for in Pune...

All-girl mosh pit at Scribe’s set
Mumbai-based band Scribe are known for their music as well as their on-stage antics. From multiple stage-dives, to what is best described as stand-up comedy in between songs, there’s always something new. This year there will be more antics from the fun band and one of these is an all-girl mosh pit. The band calls out to all the girls in the audience and gets them to participate in a girls-only moshpit, most often to their track Street Archana Vs. Vice Varsha, or their brand new cover of Justin Timberlake’s What Goes Around. “It’s amazing. The boys always behave well and protect the girls. It’s quite a delight to watch girls rock out like that, and they really get into it,” says Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy from Scribe. The band will play two sets at the festival, a Scribe set at Bacardi Arena where they will preview material from their upcoming album Hail Mogambo, and a second one-time-only set called Party Scribe at the Red Bull Tour Bus.

Big finale: Karsh Kale Collective + NH7 All Stars
This season the finale act won’t be an international one. Instead, Karsh Kale will be curating the finale for Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Pune. With the help of his band Karsh Kale Collective, the musician will put together a noteworthy lineup of musicians featuring the best of the festival. Pentagram vocalist Vishal Dadlani, Scribe front-man Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy, electro pioneer Nucleya, folk hero Papon and many other musicians will come together for an all-star set which will close the festival. Karsh says, “It is a celebration of all the music that’s played at the festival, and the music that we’ve grown up on.”

Musician to look out for —Nischay Parekh
A songwriter, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, 20-year-old Nischay Parekh is touted to be one of India’s most promising young musicians. At the festival, he will play music from his recently released  debut album Ocean. The album is an experimental indie-pop record that has been produced by legendary producer Miti Adhikari who has worked with the likes of Radiohead, Foo Fighters. “The sound on Ocean is a mix of classic pop sensibilities and kindergarten electronics”, as Nischay puts it, and is full of lush orchestration and cinematic moments. His album will be available for free download from https://nischayparekh.bandcamp.com on the dates of the festival.
