'Harry Potter' author JK Rowling named 'most influential woman in UK'

Harry Potter author JK Rowling is the most influential woman in the UK, according to leading magazine editors.
 
The writer, who recently donated £10 million to set up a new multiple sclerosis research clinic in Edinburgh, landed the top spot for her writing skills, tenacity to succeed and philanthropic nature, the National Magazine Company said.

Pop star turned fashion designer Victoria Beckham landed the second spot with the Queen in the third place.

"This list of the 100 most influential women in the UK today, as voted for by our editors, truly reflects the diversity and cross section of the brands that make up the NatMag portfolio," the Telegraph quoted Arnaud de Puyfontaine, chief executive of the National Magazine Company, as saying.

"The UK is home to an incredible amount of inspirational women and we are lucky enough to have worked with a significant number of them through our various publications over the years."

The National Magazine Company top 10 was:

2. Victoria Beckham
3. The Queen
4 Shami Chakrabarti
5. Cheryl Cole
6. Samantha Cameron
7. Cath Kidston, designer
8. Kate Moss
