Accessories designer and stylist Radhika Mehra opens up on her uber-cool offering and digital-savvy aesthetics...
She's too glam to give a damn! At least her irreverent line of clutches, gadget cases would have us believe that. Meet stylist Radhika Mehra who has worked as a film stylist for seven years. Of late she has also been styling actress Alia Bhatt for ads and appearances. However, it's her accessories venture - The Rad Project that's taking her places. She's done cutesy pouches in tropical prints, cases and sleeves embellished with glitter and sequins and sleeves with ckeey quotes like - #TomBoyNoMore, #YouCan'tSitWithUs.
How it all began
Radhika realised lack of availability for nifty i-Pad sleeves and gizmo covers. She usually saw individuals buying them from New York, Dubai and London or ordering them from Marc Jacobs and Kate Spade New York. The glamazon in her wanted something in vibrant colour, something which spells effortless cool and also looks updated style-wise. "I started making these gizmo sleeves in neon and gold tones and slowly one became 100 and soon I thought of bringing out a collection full of cool cover cases for i-Pads, laptops, Kindle and tabs."
Personalisation
"If you like your laptop case to be personalised with your Twitter or Instagram handle, we can do that. I see a lot of guys buying them for their girlfriends. A lot of them get their initials done on the reflector clutches. I even give them the option to customise a specific colour of their choice," she adds.
Currently she's retailing it from her social media pages. "Instagram is a great medium to put yourself out there - it fuels curiosity, question marks."
Future plans
"I am keen to get into passport covers. Also, I want to retail through other online portals and launch my own website."
Inspiration
"I'm very social media savvy and follow other bloggers. I personally do what I'd like to carry - be it colour or style," she signs off.
