Get ready for an evening which will take you back into the golden era of Bollywood. A not-to-miss event for all you Rafi and Kishore Kumar fans, Power of A’s is hosting Sada Bahaar Sitare — a tribute to Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor and Rajesh Khanna. Look forward to hearing 30 non-stop hits sung by singers Hamid Khan and Mohammed Aslam, who has rendered his voice in Jodha Akbar and Rang De Basanti.

This is going to be a double whammy for all you music lovers. Phoenix Marketcity is hosting back-to-back performances by Avril Q and Kem Brian today.

Bangalore’s own, Avril Q is among the few artistes who can lend her vocals to multiple musical genres. Listen as she presents  rock, jazz, retro and disco tunes along with hits from Hollywood, Bollywood and her own originals. After this, The Roots of Rhythm, an African acoustic band featuring Kem Brian (acoustic guitar and vocals), Audrey (shaker and vocals), Brice (djembe and vocals) and Patrick (acoustic solo guitar) will take charge.

Want to treat yourself to some jazzy melodies? Drive down to Windmills as it is hosting a performance by Sharik Hasan Quartet: The Cutting edge of contemporary jazz. Sharik Hasan is one of the leading pianists and composers of his generation to emerge from India and has spent several years studying jazz and classical music in France and the USA. And now, he is all set to awe all you music lovers with his performance over the weekend. He will be accompanied by Adam Larson (saxophone), Raviv Markowitz (double bass) and Philippe Lemm (drums)

Market — on the move



This is a flea with a twist. In its second edition, Souk On The Move (SOTM), the exciting flea market is back. Bringing together a combination of exciting brands to shop for coupled with entertainment,  you can catch all the action here – from live music, to dance, fashion shows, art workshops and more over the weekend.

This weekend catch some amazing performances at BFlat. On Saturday, Emergence is all set to welcome Soundar Rajan as the new drummer of the band and this will be their first concert with the new ensemble. On Sunday, Jeff Richman Trio, a jazz-rock/ fusion band will take the centre stage. Listen up as Jeff Richman (guitars), Wayne Fernandez (bass) and Pranoy Praveen (drums) do what they are best at — presenting some refreshing and intriguing tunes.

One for the century



This is where you will get to celebrate music and 100 years of glorious Indian cinema. Alliance Française along with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Suchitra Film Society and The International Arts and Cultural Foundation is hosting Centenary of Indian Cinema – a programme of music and dance from Indian films. On the occasion of World Music day, Alliance pays homage to Indian cinema with a screening of song and dance sequences chosen from various Indian films.

Dances from various regional films will then take center stage. The International Arts and Cultural Foundation is organising the dance performances that will feature city-based dance schools like Articulate, Chithkala School of Dance, Natyantharanga, Monisha Arts, Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance and Vaishnavi Natyashala.
