A Britain-based professional beer taster earns 200 pounds a day to drink in pubs across the island to search out the perfect pint.

The ale taster Jane Peyton said that the beer world is often seen as rather blokey, but she has proved the people wrong, who had been saying to her "What do you know about beer, you're a woman," the Daily Express reported.

The 43-year-old from Fulham, west London, added that beer is for both genders and she wants to encourage more women to discover it because it's such a convivial drink and with so many amazing styles of beer, it's great fun to explore.

Peyton, who runs a beer-tasting event company called School of Booze and is the author of the imbiber's bible Beer O'Clock, continued that wine isn't just for women just as beer isn't just for men.

Peyton, who is also an industry recognised ale aficionado, having been voted Britain's Beer Sommelier of the Year, an honour bestowed by the British Institute of Innkeeping, will now undertake a number of cross-country ale trails, visiting 120 pubs and reviewing their beers.

She is also the driving forced behind next year's Beer Day Britain on June 15, arranged to coincide with the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta being signed.
