Mubhashir Ansari, Anjali Gandhi-Nambiar, Satish and Madhu Gupta are part of a group of seven that has flown down all the way from Hyderabad to attend the ZeeJLF. In Hyderabad, they are part of a book club called 'Dog-eared Society'. They meet once a month to discuss books over wine.
At Day 2 of the ZeeJLF, they were a little disappointed about rain-caused chaos. Nevertheless, the group said that they were able to attend key sessions despite heavy crowds. They were especially moved by Joana Rakoff talking about her best-seller, My Salinger Years and Llewelyn Morgan's talk on the Bamiyan Buddhas. They said that Morgan's account of the demolition of the sculptures by the Taliban was enlightening. The were impressed by her clear view of the political and religious repercussions and her take on history that went back several centuries. "It helped us to see the act in a historical context," said Satish Gupta, who is a popular ophthalmologist in Hyderabad.
