Ale is well in the land of beer chuggers who simply cannot get enough of the prized golden liquid with its frothy foam. And while beer lovers mark International Beer Day, chugging pints and glasses of their favourite alcoholic brew, there are others who want to have some of it without going all out. That’s where chefs and mixologists have stepped in to create some interesting beer cocktails and dishes. Here’s a toast to some of them.
It’s a nostalgic trip down memory lane when you guzzle these concoctions that draw inspiration of our childhood memories. Pranav Mody, manager mixologist, The Sassy Spoon, shares, “The sole purpose of creating Sol Kadhi beer and Kala Khatta beer was to get the non-beer drinkers to enjoy a glass and leave them mesmerised with their favourite nostalgic flavour.”

Raghu Shetty, head bartender, British Brewing Company, “We have made cocktails with everything including vodka, rum, whiskey, jagermeister, absinthe, gin — name it, and we have made a cocktail out of that, so why not beer? Women love their margaritas, and somehow, beer really goes well with lemon and tequila, and there you have it. This combination works brilliant, as the cocktail is inherently sweet, so the beer balances it out, but it still doesn’t taste bitter. I recommend it to all those looking for a different experience.”

The key to success is identifying the main flavours of your brew, then complementing them with other additions to create a drink that packs a punch.”
