India has plethora of diverse cuisines in store for us. And one has a huge variety to choose from when it comes to tastes and flavours in food.

With changing times, Indians have had a growing taste for international flavours and cuisines. Despite all of that, they choose to stick to desi flavours when it comes to their favourite non-vegetarian food.

According to analysis done by Swiggy, a food delivering app, Chicken Biryani rules the Indian platter as the most ordered dish of 2017 in India. The dish which was introduced in India in the early 16th century by the Mughals, still continues to rule the plates and hearts of Indians.

The order analysis of seven cities, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, chennai and Kolkata, makes Chicken Biryani the top most selling food item in 2017.

Great on taste and flavours, chicken biryani is greatly influenced by the Mughlas, Arabic, Turkish and Iranian food where people use plenty of rice and spices in their dishes.

The delectable rice delight, Chicken biryani, is generally cooked in the Indian subcontinent with balanced flavours of myriad spices, onions, saffron and rice with chicken, slowly cooked to perfection. Served as the main dish in many states, the recipe of Hyderabadi Biryani is globally famous.

The order analysis of Swiggy also reveals that Indians have searched Pizza over five lakh times, making it the most searched item of the year. However, when it came to ordering a dish, Chicken Biryani ruled the list.

Swiggy saw a single user order chicken biryani 1,415 times in the year 2017. Masala Dosa, Idli and Vada ruled breakfast menu for the most of the Indians. Indians munched on pav bhaji, french fries, samosas, chicken roll, chicken burger and bhel puri during snack time.
