You’d never think that in the heart of a bustling, commercial metropolis like Mumbai city, and at the World Trade Centre at Cuffe Parade at that, people would gather for two days to discuss spirituality. But that’s exactly what is going to happen when the Life Positive Expo opens for two days on November 23-24. There you will find a dedicated band of gurus, spiritualists and Life Positive magazine readers gather to discuss the one issue that matters to them immensely — the journey within themselves.

Says editor of Life Positive, Suma Varughese, “We’ve been doing the LP Expo for several years now but brought it to Mumbai only last year. The aim is to expand what our spiritual magazine does in two dimensions, into a 3D format and to make gurus and spiritual mentors accessible to our readers and to visitors. People travel from all over the world to attend the LP Expo in other parts of the country — such as Delhi, Rishikesh and Lonavala.” While there is a charge of Rs 6,000 for those who want to avail of the workshops, the discourses and visiting the exhibitions at the Expo is free of charge, she informs.

While past events have included such spiritual maestros as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Anandmurti Gurumaa flying down specially to discourse, this year’s line up includes an introductory discourse by Jaya Row of Vedanta Vision as well as four one-day workshops by eminent facilitators GL Sampoorna, Nilima and Vijay Bhat, Jasmine Bharathan and Krishna Iyer. The valedictory address on the last day of the event will be conducted by Dadashreeji, the Head of MaitriBodh Parivar wherein the enlightened guru will discourse about ‘Connecting to the Divine Within’

Says facilitator GL Sampoorna who’s conducted LP Expo workshops before as well, “The reason why I enjoy holding workshops at the Expo is because the participants, are so deeply involved with their inner work that I feel I am among kindred spirits. There is a feeling of sharing what I know with others walking along the path with me. It;s fulfilling because they just dive into it.”

According to Nafisa Shamsher, 63, who attended a previous expo “It is wonderful being among like-minded people but the time for the workshops in too short.” Says another younger attendee Parineeta Gupta, The Expo I attended was very well-organised and the alternative therapy workshop was especially good.”
