Book on Shaiva philosophy released

The Kashmir Shaiva Essence -- a book on Shaiva philosophy was launched here today by Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader Karan Singh.

Authored by Tej Raina, the book presents a perspective of Kashmir Shaiva philosophy and provides a unique aspect of looking at the "mundane existence and beyond".

Impressed by the theme of the book, Singh congratulated the author for trying to deal with a complicated philosophical subject despite being a professor of physics.

"I want to warmly congratulate him (Raina) on the impressive work particularly with his scientific background he has tried to deal with a complicated issue," Singh said.

"Kashmir Shaivism is very unique school of thought. It is not only a philosophy but also a methodology of meditation and concentration," he added.

In his brief address, Raina said "Kashmir Shaivism is the most original religion, or understanding of the world."
