Along with some great music over the years, Madonna has also given us some iconic fashion moments. Here are some of her most popular looks from her music videos.

Celebrating the ’80s fashion

Only Madonna can pull off looking innocent and raunchy at the same time. Her album Like A Virgin is a tribute to the ’80s style. This punk look became a hit with women across America who chose to wear it for its edgy touch. The wild hair coupled with an ‘I don’t give a damn’ attitude embodied her edgy style.

Madge’s tribute to Marilyn Monroe

Madonna paid homage to Marilyn Monroe’s performance of Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes with her stellar performance in Material Girl. While the song became a major hit, her hot pink gown and diamond necklace is still etched in people’s minds as one of her most popular outfits.

Donning the Gamine look

Papa Don’t Preach dwelt on a serious topic like unplanned pregnancy. Madge took the serious topic and made it look sexy and fun. Dyeing her hair blonde and donning the Gamine look (a boyish style that’s innocent, charming and mischievous all at the same time), the Queen of Pop sported a Breton shirt, vintage low-waisted jeans and ballet flats, a classic yet bold look that totally worked for this album. The black biker jacket added an edgy look to this street style.

Honouring John Travolta

Showcasing a mix of Saturday Night Live moves along with contemporary street dancing, the Hung Up song is a tribute to John Travolta, and dancing in general. The song was filmed just two months after Madonna broke three ribs and a collarbone in a horse riding accident. Yet there’s no show of any visible pain as the diva demonstrates her flexibility in a pink leotard, fabulously showing off her curves.

Exploring Latin pop

La Isla Bonita is a popular tune that explores the genre of Latin pop way before it became trendy. Bonita in Spanish means pretty, and Madge looked and dressed the part in her red and black flamenco style dress that pays tribute to the Latin American culture and style.
