When social initiative combines forces with enthusiastic youth with a purpose to transform people’s lives, the result is generally something positive. Warehouse Bombay – a crowd-sourced garage sale for charity is a step in that direction. The idea is a result of a lot of brainstorming by three teams – Warehouse Bombay, Homegrown and White Collar Hippie.

More about the event
Rhea Bhumgara and Sagar Rao from Wearhouse Bombay are collaborating together to make this event a fun experience for all. Sagar says, “ The sale of clothes is one facet of the event.

Some contemporary youth artistes and musicians will also be performing live and displaying their work at Sitara Studio, where the event is scheduled to be held.” He adds, “Our content partner — Homegrown have gotten these generous and enthusiastic artistes to contribute their talent. In addition, there are workshops and film screenings by White Collar Hippie. The event will be far more holistic and we aim to deliver a complete experience.”

What’s up for grabs?
A crowd-sourced garage sale for charity, with clothes sourced from all across the city, you’re quite likely to stumble across something pitched in by the chic and trendy everyday people of the metro, all at affordable prices. And while the fashionistas have a field day shopping, there’s more action going on on the sidelines. Along with live music, assorted art on the walls as well as some really cool travel film screenings, all happening simultaneously, there promises to be something for everyone from all walks of life.

Shop for a cause
Being a social-collaborative, the main idea is to do something for those in need, yet all the
while keeping the entire shopping experience engaging and interesting.  The generated funds and proceeds from the sale of donated items will go to Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI), an organisation that helps patients suffering from the central nervous system disorder that results in devastating disabilities in people in the prime of their lives. They also hope that all the money raised from the sale of the donated items would go to helping such people by offering medical reimbursements to needy patients, disbursing supplementary medication or providing free mobility aids such as walkers, wheelchairs, etc.
