5 ways with 1 dress

A closet full of clothes and still nothing to wear — the statement describes the dilemma of most women across the world. We challenged fashion blogger from www.whatwearhow.in and stylist Urmi Daga to wear one LBD on five different occasions and make it look fresh and new. Daga more than rose to the occasion, says Sonal Ved

Office Meetings
Even though I am a freelancer, sometimes meetings take place in corporate set-ups. It is key to keep the look sharp and formal for power dressing at these meetings. For this look, I wore a crisp, white shirt on top of my LBD for a formal look. To create an element of style, I wore a tan-coloured slim belt. I've added a touch of geek glamour by donning a pair of vintage glasses. A formal bag completes this look.

Sourcing
A major chunk of my day is spent in sourcing clothes for the projects I do professionally. Comfortable clothing is the need of the hour during this time of my day. For this look, I paired a simple top with my dress. Since the dress is mono-toned, I opted for an aztec-printed crop top that has been knotted on the side to create a layer. This gives an illusion of a skirt-and-top look. For footwear, I stuck to colourful espadrilles. The whole look screams comfort, aids easy movement and is yet fashionable.

At a blog shoot
When I'm not playing fashion stylist, I can be spotted shooting for my own blog. We post about various fashion trends and how one can aesthetically pull these off. For one of my shoots, I created a look using the LBD and dressed it up to suit our blog's style of 'wearable fashion'. Since Mumbai's summer is still here, I teamed the LBD with a printed cap — a boon to commute in — and to allow me to keep my eyes open for photographs. I've carried a denim shirt on my waist in case I need something to keep me warm. Lastly, the shoes and bag add colour to the otherwise tepid mood.

Coffee Meeting
One of the perks of being a fashion stylist is that we get to dress up the way we like to. From shorts, skirts, jumpsuits to dresses, each day I pick my outfit depending on what I feel like donning. For a work meeting that happened at a coffee shop, I experimented with a semi-formal look. I wore a floral midi skirt on top of my dress. Since the LBD is plain black, the print on the skirt and its colours added a touch of freshness. For shoes, I chose nude-toned ballerinas that tone down the skirt's 'busy-ness'. The box clutch and John Lennon reflectors add a touch of style to the overall look.

Post- Work
Impromptu plans are a part of every busy girl's life. A good trick to be ready for these is to carry pullovers, jackets, shoes and other things that help you refresh your look in a jiffy. I've accessorized my LBD with a statement neck piece and dainty bracelets. This would be enough for dinner at a fancy place. When our plans shifted to a night club, I pulled a grey sequined jacket from Kenneth Cole on top of the dress. The jacket jazzed up the look without making it over the top.
