Aditya Garhwal has written a new chapter in the annals of Rajasthan cricket by hitting a triple century. Aditya’s monumental 316 not out during the CK Nayudu Trophy game against Saurashtra at the SMS Stadium not only made him the first player from the state to score a triple century at the home ground- SMS Stadium and also the one to have highest individual score from the state in domestic games. He has surpassed Aakash Chopra (301*) and Gagan Khoda (300*) on his way to this feat.

The impact of the knock is that it has helped the team end with an upper hand on the visitors. With 3 points coming Rajasthan’s way from this drawn match, the team can be hopeful of making it to the knockouts.

The right-hand bat is also the captain of the team and that is why the contentment is almost surreal. “It was after reaching 247 that I could enjoy and felt a sense of accomplishment as the team had by then taken the lead,” ecstatic Aditya said. He said that it was difficult to keep himself vigilant for such a long duration of time, but what drove him was the goal of helping the team go past Saurashtra’s first innings score of 515.

How the young skipper manages himself and others as well? He believes that he thrives under pressure. “I am a sort of person who likes to take up responsibility and more pressure that comes along with it.” Someone has said that strike while the iron is hot. Aditya is of the opinion that it is not for him, but for the selectors to take a call on his selection to the senior team. “But yes, since past two years I have been playing well. My fitness level has gone up as well as my batting has matured. I am ready .”

He is a flamboyant player and his strike rate of 94.61 in this match is a proof of that. Even in this game he dominated the entire ground and smashed 46 boundaries to notch up the team total to a mammoth 515 and probably his vibrant style of play is the reason why he is popular as ‘L’il Sehwag’. “I scored two double hundreds in under-19 games and that too at a quick pace so everyone started calling me Sehwag since then,” he said.
