Who will be next Indian Youth Congress President? Will the next Youth Congress leader hail from Rajasthan? This is the question that has set the RPCC corridors buzzing ahead of the party polls. The search committee has interviewed a couple of youth leaders from Rajasthan.

According to highly placed sources, the sitting national president Amrinder Singh Raja has been directed to step down.With this, the hunt for the new face of the youth wing has begun. Congress President Rahul Gandhi recently in the party plenary session advocated to change ‘grassroot’ organization and replacing Raja is one of the step taken towards this. The sources said that a search panel constituted by Gandhi interviewed a couple of leaders separately in closed-door meetings to find the best candidate for the post. Those leaders interviewed include Ashok Chandna, Rajasthan Youth Congress president who is also a sitting member from Hindauli. Chandna is the state president from 2013.

The panel interviewed young leaders from other states also. However, the sources claimed that priority to Rajasthan is likely to be given in wake of general assembly election slated in the final quarter of the year. This will be helping party’s youth wing focusing on election campaigning for the election effectively under a local patronage. The sources claimed that selection of the new president would be a rigorous process during which short-listed candidates would be interviewed by Gandhi himself. “
